Rome (NEV), February 3rd, 2026 – We publish the annual report of the Lampedusa Migration Observatory, edited by the workers and volunteers of Mediterranean Hope, migrants and refugees program of the Federation of Protestant Churches in Italy.
In addition to data on people who landed on the small island last year, we collected stories, information, and testimonies about what happened in Lampedusa (and beyond) in 2025.

“What strikes us is how, unfortunately, certain situations have been recurring on Lampedusa for years: people arriving in extreme conditions, dying in the Mediterranean Sea, and being welcomed by Europe in an undignified way. This is why we continue to stay on Lampedusa, to experience the island, and to monitor what is happening, trying in our own small way to make a difference and be a help for those migrants. This report is intended as a way, to give back to those who support us a quantitative, but above all qualitative, perspective, through the people who collaborate with our activities, from one of the most lethal borders on the European continent”, says Marta Bernardini, coordinator of Mediterranean Hope.
